New Policy Drives Rp50 Triliun Trading Surge at BEI

Dailynesia.com – Has sparked a notable increase in trading activity on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), with total transactions reaching Rp50.15 triliun on Friday, May 29, 2026. The volume of shares traded amounted to 47.21 miliar, and the frequency of trades hit 2.38 juta kali. This surge in activity is attributed to the New Policy adjustments related to the MSCI rebalancing and the DHE (Domestic Exporter) issue, which have created a ripple effect across various market segments.

Market Volatility and Investor Adjustments

The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) experienced significant volatility, peaking with a sharp rise of 87.69 poin or 1.43% during the opening session, but ultimately closed with a modest decline of 2.8 poin (-0.05%) at 6.127.38. Among the 579 listed stocks, 271 saw gains, 409 declined, and 137 remained stagnant. Financial analysts noted that the New Policy implementation, particularly the shift in investor positioning ahead of key government agendas, played a pivotal role in this fluctuation.

“The New Policy has triggered a major adjustment in market dynamics, especially as investors prepare for upcoming reforms,” explained Lukman Leong, an analyst from Doo Financial, during a CNBC Indonesia interview.

Market participants are closely monitoring how the New Policy will influence liquidity in the domestic dollar market, the rupiah exchange rate, and the prospects of export-oriented companies. Additionally, the policy’s impact on commodity prices and sectoral performance is expected to shape investor behavior in the coming weeks. The volatile nature of the IHSG highlights the market’s sensitivity to external factors, including global economic data from the US, China, and Indonesia.

High-Volume Transactions in Key Sectors

Significant trading activity was observed in the conglomerate sector, with several stocks experiencing substantial turnover. Barito Group’s shares, including TPIA, BREN, and BRPT, accounted for a total of Rp8.6 triliun, Rp4.5 triliun, and Rp4.1 triliun in transactions, respectively. Other high-volume stocks were CUAN (Rp2.4 triliun), PTRO (Rp2.2 triliun), and CDIA (Rp656 miliar). This indicates that investors are actively reallocating capital in response to the New Policy changes.

“The New Policy has led to a strong influx of capital into major market players, reflecting confidence in their stability amid broader economic uncertainties,” added Herditya, an analyst from MNC Sekuritas.

Meanwhile, financial institutions and large-cap stocks also contributed to the high trading volume. BBCA (Rp11.64 triliun), AMMN (Rp8 triliun), BBRI (Rp6.4 triliun), TLKM (Rp5 triliun), ASII (Rp4.8 triliun), and BMRI (Rp3.6 triliun) all recorded substantial transaction figures. The New Policy is seen as a catalyst for increased liquidity in these sectors, as investors anticipate long-term benefits from structural reforms.

New Policy implementation, particularly the transition to a single export gateway system starting June 1, is expected to streamline trade processes and enhance market efficiency. Analysts suggest that these adjustments will not only impact domestic investors but also attract foreign capital, further boosting BEI’s activity. The combination of New Policy announcements and the MSCI rebalancing process has created a dual driver for market momentum, with traders capitalizing on the opportunities presented.

As the New Policy continues to take shape, its influence on market sentiment is becoming more pronounced. The recent trading surge underscores the market’s readiness to adapt to new economic frameworks, signaling a potential shift in investment strategies. With the New Policy poised to redefine market dynamics, stakeholders are advised to remain vigilant and adjust their portfolios accordingly to navigate the evolving landscape effectively.
